Security Advisory - STRATON editor 6.71 and earlier versions

Security Advisory Regarding the WibuKey Driver on Windows Workstations Running STRATON 6.71

Following the STRATON Security Advisory ID #321328 published by Copadata, we are releasing an update regarding development workstations based on the outdated version of STRATON Workbench 6.71 and previous versions.

The advisory concerns the vulnerability CVE-2026-84854 (CVSS v3.1: 7.0) , which is exclusively related to the use of outdated hardware license drivers:

  • Who is affected: Exclusively Windows PCs with SENECA STRATON IDE/PACKAGE version 6.71 installed that use the green Wibu dongle with WibuKey driver v6.71 or lower.

  • Who is NOT affected:

    • SENECA controllers and RTUs are not exposed.

    • Silver dongle licenses (CodeMeter drivers) are not affected.

  • Recommended action: For those still using version 6.71 with a green dongle, uninstall the WibuKey Setup driver and update it to version 6.72 or higher from the official Wibu website.
